2008 Panhandle AIDS Walk
Sunday, Sept 14

This year's walk has come and gone...  we had a great time and raised over $6,700 to help educate our community about HIV as well as help those who are affected by HIV.

Please enjoy the pictures from last year ... and contact us if you'd like to donate or volunteer!

If you cannot attend, you may send your donation payable to "Calico Spirit"
to Jill Young, Nebraska AIDS Project, 4500 Ave I, Scottsbluff NE 69361

The Oregon Trail Pageant winners are our Junior Walk Ambassadors.  They will be greeting participants, entertaining, and providing assistance.

Pictured (l-r) are: Breanna Ferreyra-15- Miss Platte River,  Kaci Schwartzkopf-14-Miss Wildcat Hills,  Stevie Ensurd-15-Miss Hospitality,  Jayme Haugen-16-Miss Oregon Trail,  Trinity Godina-9-Little Miss Oregon Trail, Kimberly Hernandez-11-Miss Sugar Valley,  Chelsea Smith-14-Miss Hospitality,  Sariyah Rodriguez-6-Little Miss Hospitality,  Destinee Huck-4-Little Miss Honeybee,  Sydnie Willey-7-Little Miss Sugar Valley,  Hayly Allen-8-Miss Heartland

2008 Walk Ambassador is Mr. Donald Randolph of Council Bluffs, IA.  Don is a long-time activist and advocate for people living with HIV.

You may think you don't know Don, but he has been a part of our lives for many years now.  Most of you will know him as the friendly & bubbly guy that handed out shirts at our walk.   Some of the programs Don helped create have provided local families impacted by HIV with grocery gift cards, Christmas presents for their toddlers, and personal care items.

Please help us thank him for 25 years of dedication to helping others.

Last year, 165 walkers raised more than $7,500!  We used that money for food, medicine, transportation, and emergency assistance (housing, utilities, and car repair) to those in-need...  We bought materials and paid for speakers to teach our young on how to protect themselves against HIV.   We also provided a safe place where those affected by HIV can come together and share how they overcome the challenges of living with HIV.
